TIPS FROM PARENTS TO PARENTS

FOR EVALUATING TREATMENTS AND INTERVENTIONS...
  • When listening to my friends talk about what they do with their child with LD, I listen and then filter through what will work for my child and my family, knowing that spending a lot of time in the car to get to a tutor will add more stress than help the issue!
  • When evaluating interventions, I wish I had spent as much time looking into programs that focused on my child’s strengths. Now that she is older, her talent and interest in art are most important.
  • When a professional says this will "really help” my child, I ask them to tell me the specific skills that my child will gain.
