2012 AUTHOR LUNCHEON | Sibling expert Don Meyer will be our guest on Thursday, March 29, 2012, for the 5th Annual Author Luncheon, held at noon at the Next Key Center, Novato. Sponsorship information is available now from Brenda at 415.475.2118 or brendagm@matrixparents.org. Reservations will be available in March.
An expert on relationships between individuals with special needs and their siblings of all ages, Meyer is the senior author or editor of six books, most recently Thicker Than Water: Essays by Adult Siblings of People with Disabilities. He is director of the Sibling Support Project and creator of Sibshops, lively programs just for young brothers and sisters of kids with special needs.

SILVEYVILLE 2011 | The Happy Holidays Celebration at Silveyville Tree Farm in Dixon for Children with Disabilities was a big hit for the 20th year in a row! A whopping 200 children and 75 parents and care providers attended this event. Children participated in fun, safe, and inclusive outdoor activities while parents and teachers had the opportunity meet others. Each child received a visit and gifts from Santa thanks to our community sponsors: First Five Solano, Dixon Walmart, Vacaville Big Lots, 99 Cent Only Store, Panera Bread, Jenny Huff Scentsy, and Silveyville Tree Farm. 2011 AUTHOR LUNCHEON | One of the nation's foremost experts on teens, Stephen Hinshaw, Ph.D., spoke at the Matrix Annual Author Luncheon on March 28, 2011. He is known for his effective work with children with ADHD, his commitment to reducing the stigma of mental illness in youth, and his research on how contemporary pressures affect the development of youth. 2010 MARIN HUMAN RACE | On May 8, 2010, Matrix participated in the Marin Human Race, a community fundraiser that enables our supporters to walk, run, or roll to raise money for Matrix. We raised more money, had more fun, and added something new: a professional bubble blower for all to enjoy! Thanks to Matrix client/supporter, Nancy Petranto, who led our efforts for the 2nd year in a row. Thank you also to Sterling Johnson, our amazing professional bubble blower, and Lam Tran our wonderful massage therapist, whose contributions helped make the day even more special!
2010 AUTHOR LUNCHEON | World renowned autism activist, animal scientist and best-selling author Temple Grandin spoke at the Matrix Annual Author Luncheon on April 19th, 2010. A GREAT SUCCESS! Annual Happy Holidays Celebration at Silveyville Tree Farm in Dixon for Children with Disabilities | 150 children, along with their parents and teachers, enjoyed a beautiful morning on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Silveyville Tree Farm in Dixon. The annual holiday party included visits with Santa, riding the Sleigh and Hay Wagon, and socializing with each other around the fire with popcorn and hot cider. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a special and memorable day for all!
