The annual commemoration of Pride Month happens every June

From SCDD (California State Council on Developmental Disabilities)

The annual commemoration of Pride Month happens every June to honor the LGBTQ+ community and recognize its members’ impact and contributions throughout history. Pride started with the Stonewall Riots in June 1969, which marked a turning point in the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Please enjoy a 2022 video from SCDD Councilmember Nicole Adler as she shares what Pride means to her.

Pride serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity and is a time for LGBTQ+ people to celebrate their identities, raise awareness about their ongoing struggles, and advocate for equal rights and protections.
