There was a time in the not-so-distant past that students with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Developmental Disabilities would not have the chance to experience college life. But that has changed, and several colleges now offer programs and supports. Students can explore these options as part of their Post-Secondary Education Goal of their ITP (Individual Transition Plan):

Many students still prefer to stay close to home, and will choose to attend one of the Transition Programs offered by their County Office of Education, or perhaps a private Transition Program offered in their area. Please see County Specific Resources for listings of Transition Programs by county.

Some students graduating with a diploma would like to attend a two or four- year college and also have additional support. They may need assistance with work or social and independent life.
